FAQ
Why is DPTT preferred in EPDM and butyl rubber? It contains a high amount of sulfur per molecule and builds sufficient crosslinks with little or no elemental sulfur. The short sulfur bridges that form are heat resistant and give low compression set.
Are TRA and DPTT the same product? Why are two CAS numbers seen?TRA is a commercial abbreviation. Commercial products are mixtures of polysulfides with different sulfur ranks. 120-54-7 describes the tetrasulfide and 971-15-3 the hexasulfide; grade names such as 'DPTT-6' indicate the predominant structure.
